A differently wired child may have learning disorders like dyslexia and experience specific difficulty with reading, writing, spelling or mathematics. Some children may have neurological disorders causing learning problems – Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Some children may differently abled. After the student is evaluated by a clinical psychologist or diagnosed to be having a learning / neurological disorder or poor intelligence, we at Jamnabai Narsee School follow this procedure:

Evaluation by a multi-disciplinary team comprising of the teacher and the school counsellor.

Screening is done to assess the child's strengths, skill deficits and current level of academic skills.

The report is then discussed with the parent, teacher, counsellor and the Principal.

Family counselling and individual counselling to learn coping techniques follow this.

During assessments, children with special needs are assessed orally in addition to a written component.

Special educators teach children the art of 'learning to learn'.

Children with learning disabilities are given the choice to appear for the Class X Board Examination through the NIOS.

Proper instruction and support from the resource teachers promote success and alleviates difficulties associated with learning. Teachers are sensitized to the numerous learning difficulties faced by school children through seminars, workshops and in - service training
