CODE OF CONDUCT
GENERAL
All rules and regulations are formulated for the benefit of the students. We owe it to them to have a chance to grow up in a society that is safe, and to learn in an environment where there is respect for all.
All rules apply to all students from the time they leave home for school until they have reached home at the end of the school day, in the school transport or white taking part in any activity / function / trip organized by or related to the school.
The school rules focus on a few specific issues and do not cover every eventuality; they allow the exercise of common sense and ethics to resolve such contingencies.
The most essential school rule is that all students must behave in a sensible and honorable way, showing respect, courtesy and consideration towards fellow students and staff and taking full responsibility of their actions so as to uphold the good name of the school.
CONDUCT
As a first step to becoming responsible citizens of the world, all students must:
- Behave in a courteous, decent and modest manner, appropriate to school culture at all times;
- Demonstrate honesty and integrity; therefore lying, cheating and stealing of any kind must be shunned;
- Try to achieve their personal best in their studies and be scrupulously honest in all academic activities;
- Contribute to a positive learning atmosphere in class by co-operating with the teacher, getting work done on time, contribution to discussions and avoiding disruptions;
- Take appropriate measures to help those in need;
- Show proper care and regard for school property (building, equipment, furniture, fittings, books, etc.) as well as the property of others;
- Strive to develop appropriate work attitudes and habits;
- Respect the need of others to work in an environment of learning and teaching.
- Make themselves available to represent the school in sporting and cultural activities and to attend training sessions / rehearsals when required.
JNS has a “zero tolerance” policy in the following areas:
- The possession or use of illicit drugs;
- The possession or use of alcohol, tobacco or unauthorized prescription drugs;
- The possession or use of a weapon or instrument that may inflict harm;
- Bullying, fighting, vulgarity or verbal intimidation;
- Vandalism or theft;
- Offensive language or possession of offensive literature / images in any form;
- Disruption of lesson / activity through inappropriate behavior
- Display of affection which is not acceptable to the society at large;
- Use of cell phones, I – pods, e – gadgets, laser pointers in the school premises.
- Harassment on social networking sites.
Every student is entrusted with the responsibility of informing the Principal / Vice – Principals / Headmistresses should they see others violating this policy.
A violation of any rule may result in disciplinary action including, but not limited to:
- Compensatory payment of charges;
- Assigned work related to the offense;
- Loss of credit for completed / assigned work or tests;
- Suspension alternative program – extra service with an NGO;
- Detention / in-school suspension / out-of-school suspension;
- Expulsion.
IF ANY OF THE ABOVE RULES ARE NOT ADHERED TO, THE STUDENT WILL HAVE TO ACCEPT THE CONSEQUENCES.
DISCPLINE
- Punctuality is essential at all times. Students who come late in the morning regularly, will be sent home / will have to attend a Value Education Class on that day from 3.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.
- Unless approved by the coordinator/class teacher story books or periodicals from outside should not be brought to the school.
- The school does not accept the responsibility for the loss of pupil’s books, pens, money etc. Each pupil is responsible for his/her own belongings.
- silence must be observed in the whole school during class hours and while moving from one class to another, as noise pollution decreases the quality of life.
- Use of the cell phone is prohibited in the school. A cell phone found in the possession of a student in the school premises will be confiscated and fined Rs. 1500/-
- Chewing of gum is prohibited in the school premises.
- Students are not allowed to carry white/red ink-pens as part of the stationery.
- No collection of money should be made without the sanction of the Principal.
- Those pupils who travel by transport approved by the school are expected to be well-behaved and courteous in the bus. Anyone found misbehaving will be debarred from using the bus facility.
- During the absence of the teacher, the Prefect or Monitor will be responsible for the order and discipline of the class.
- It is forbidden to buy eatables from street vendors.
- Students are expected and required to KEEP THE SCHOOL PREMISES CLEAN.
- The Principal reserves the right to suspend or dismiss any pupil if his/her behavior or progress is unsatisfactory.
“Pupils should realize that they are responsible to the school authorities not only for their conduct in the school but also for their general behavior outside. Any reported or observed objectionable conduct out of the school, on the part of pupils should make them liable for disciplinary action.”
“Any pupil who is persistently insubordinate or is repeatedly or willfully mischievous or is guilty of malpractice in connection with examination or has committed an act of serious indiscipline and/or misbehavior or who, in the opinion, of the Head of the School, has an unwholesome influence on his fellow pupils, may be expelled permanently or removed from the school for a specified period by the Head of the School (Secondary School Code : Govt. of Maharashtra).
- Every student shall endeavour to keep up the good name of the school by his/her manners and deportment.
UNIFORM
Student should be attired compulsorily in full school uniform, at all times, inside the school premises.
A) Pre-Primary:
All the children of the Pre-Primary (girls and boys) will wear light blue shorts pants (S. Kumar shade No.204) and a sailor collared top of light blue and white check (No.101 Thackersey mills) with a red piping of Devi silk.
- All the students of Std. I to X are required to wear white socks with 2 blue stripes and ‘Hi-Fly Tannu’ blue canvas Velcro shoes.
B) Std. I to X:
- All students of Std. I to X are required to wear white socks with 2grey stripes and black Lancer shoes (Item code LJ1) with black shoe laces.
- Girls’ hair must be plaited or tied black, if it reaches the shoulders. Only black hair clips / hair bands / robber bands are permitted. Boy’s hair must be short and neatly cut.
- The uniform must be worn daily. Any student who attends school without the proper uniform or whose appearance is in any way untidy, is liable for punitive action.
- Students are not permitted to wear any kind of jewellery or fancy w5rist watches to school.
Girls
A short sleeved blouse made of plain white cloth with interfacing in the open Collar. A pinafore made of grey cloth of the specified shade. The exact shade of grey of the uniform material is S. Kumar-Shade No. 178 either FORTUNE or TROVA. The hem of the skirt must be up to the knee cap. The pinafore should be just below the first button of the blouse. Wearing a white cotton camisole is compulsory. The house badge must be neatly appliquéd in the top left part of the Pinafore with a space of 1 inch from the top and side. Grey cotton bloomers / Shorts must be worm under the pinafore compulsorily.
Boys
A short sleeved shirt made of plain white cloth. Shirt should have a fusing collar. The pocket hem must be stiff. Wearing a white cotton sleeveless vest is compulsory. The house badge must be neatly appliquéd on the shirt pocket. Trousers and shorts to be made of grey cloth of the specified shade mentioned above.
Trousers worn as hipsters will not be allowed. It should be waist downwards, with 18” to20”width at thankless. Aback belt with a silver plated buckle is compulsory to fasten the shorts/ trousers for students from Std. VI onwards. Boys in classes below standard VIII will wear short; those taller than 145 cms may wear trousers.
The P.Ed. uniform must be worn compulsorily on P.Ed. days only.
- All students are required to wear white socks with 2grey stripes and blue Lancer shoes (Item code LJ/TJ20) with blue shoe laces.
- Girls’ hair must be plaited or tied back, if it reaches the shoulders. Only black hair clips/ Hair bands / rubber band are permitted. Boys’ hair must be short and neatly cut.
- The uniform must be worm daily. Any student who attends school without the proper Uniform or whose appearance is in any way untidy, is liable for punitive action.
- Students are not permitted to wear any kind of jewellery or fancy wrist watches to school.
GIRLS :
A white short sleeved blouse and blue checked skirt. A white camisole and shorts/bloomers to be worn at all times. The JNS logo must be neatly appliquéd to the center of the blouse pocket.
BOYS:
A white short sleeved shirt and a pair of navy blue trousers. Wearing a white cotton sleeveless vest is compulsory. Trousers worn as hipsters will not be allowed. It should be waist downwards with 18” to 20” width at the ankles. The JNS logo must be neatly appliquéd to the center of the shirt pocket.
The P.Ed. uniform must be worn compulsorily on P.Ed. days only. |
