The central core of the IB curriculum the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) is aimed at the total development of the student. An essay of 4000 words, the Extended Essay, involves exhaustive research and caters to the academic development of the student. The TOK helps students to think critically, better equipping them to face the competitive world. The CAS program gives students the opportunity to pursue their interests and also participate in sports. However, one of the most important aspects of CAS is that it gives students a chance to give back to the community, which has nurtured them. The Service program in our school includes teaching street children and creating handicrafts to raise funds. This service component sensitizes students to the problems of our society such as illiteracy and poverty through first hand experience. It is very satisfying for students to perform the service since they realize that they are actively taking part in contributing to the society. With such a strong core, the IB truly enhances all-round student development. |
