The Secondary School

We offer the students the following academic core subjects: English, Marathi/Gujarati/Hindi (anyone subject),Environmental Education and Social Studies and the following optional subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Science), Computer Applications, Technical Drawing, Economics, Commercial Studies, Maths, Physical Education and Art to cater to their individual abilities and interest.

Education in the secondary school aims at stimulating the spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical faculties of children. Facts of history, geography and environmental education are studied first-hand from direct sources as far as possible. The distribution of the curriculum is not isolated into branches of knowledge but an inter-disciplinary approach is adopted, thus presenting the subjects in a synthesized fashion. In the middle school (Std V to VIII), teachers have a regular say in curriculum design and selection of textbooks that offer creative educative experiences. ‘Graded learning’ provides experiences to the pupils in proportion to their strengths, needs and interests. Pupils are prepared for observations in the external environment and given specific techniques, experiments and other creative activities. ‘Project Work’ supplements the theoretical acquisition of knowledge, understanding and application in every subject area.

The pupils of Stds.IX and X are prepared for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Examination conducted by the Council for the Indian Schools Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. On an average, 290 students appear for the ICSE Examinations each year. We have achieved cent-percent results over the years. The subjects offered for examination are:

Group 1 (Compulsory):

Educational excursions, nature trails, exploration camps, monsoon treks and participation in co-curricular activities make the education programme a stimulating learning experience for all. Value education fits into the curriculum design and offers a holistic approach to education. A comprehensive programme of Socially Useful Productive Work [SUPW] and Community Service organized for Stds. I-X, reaches out to the less privileged in our society, through reputed NGOs.

To encourage all-round development of the student the school offers our students the following programs:

Physical training – Students are given physical training everyday to help keep a healthy mind and a healthy body.

Music – Once a week, students from Stds. I-VIII are given training in Indian music and its appreciation.

Life Skills – Life skills are imparted to the students though regular weekly sessions of mentoring with the help of trained counselors.

Extra Curricular Activities – Students are encouraged to take part in the inter-house activities throughout the year.

Sports – Students take part in Inter-School competitions in games like football, handball and throw-ball etc.
