The Pre-School

In the pre-school years i.e. Nursery, Junior and Senior K.G., the pre-school curriculum is the total of all activities both formal and informal, which take place inside and outside the classroom.

Emphasis is placed on communication skills, numerical skills, music, physical education, cultural development, keeping universal values as the base.

Gradual initiation of the child to English Language takes place keeping in mind the emphasis on the child’s mother tongue.

PLAY is the keystone to learning in the pre-primary school. Lessons are learnt from free activity, which allows children to interpret life from personal experiences. Play combines attention with relaxation, purpose with independence and rules with freedom. The ambience in the classrooms is that of a wonderland. The atmosphere is one of freedom, play and joy through song and movement. Organised activities intend to exercise the child’s senses, limbs, and muscles and familiarize him with the environment. ‘Playthings’ are used to train the senses of sight and touch, to give the pupil an idea of size and surface and to present a correct idea of number. The ‘prepared environment’ in the pre-school offers activities where the children construct themselves with intrinsic pleasure and satisfaction.
