NIOS – National Institute of Open Schooling

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has been providing opportunities for continual developmental education to those who have missed the opportunities to complete schooling through various courses and programs from primary to pre-degree level. NIOS provides opportunities for continuing education to interested learners through Open Basic Education, Secondary and Senior Secondary level Education, Vocational Education and Life Enrichment Programs. Currently the NIOS has on its rolls more than sixteen lakhs students from almost every State and Union Territory of India, indicating that open schooling is servicing the educational needs of various categories of people. Jamnabai Narsee School has taken the path of inclusion by introducing NIOS for students who are unable to cope with the ICSE or the SSC curriculum. Every encouragement is given to the students to enter fully in various activities provided by the school to broaden their interests and provide an opportunity to discover and develop latent talent. Such activities play an important part in the student’s steady development as a person and to his/her academic progress and success.
